The requirement of this job was to provide a solution with respect to the ongoing problem of flooding septic beds mainly on Manotick Island.

Taggart Construction was awarded 2 of the 3 projects currently underway in the Village of Manotick.

The first project consists of the construction of building a large underground tank and pumping station to be able to transport the sewage into the existing City of Ottawa sewer
system. The pump station will feed two forcemains that will travel a distance of 4 km. The two forcemains are constructed with fusible HDPE pipe, with diameters of 14” and 24”. Along with the pump station and forcemains this project includes two separate rock bores of 123m and 107m one of which will be bored under the Rideau River connecting the pump stations wet well to the future sewer system that is to be installed on Manotick Island.
The second project which Taggart Construction has undertaken is on Manotick Island. The focus of this job is installing sanitary sewer and watermain to services to the 215 residents of the Hillside Gardens community. This project will consist of a full road reconstruction, there are many challenges involved with this project as Taggart Construct is required to work around the existing cement-asbestos pipe and existing gas services.
