Building the Infrastructure our Communities Depend on

For more than 70 years, Taggart Construction Limited has built the essential services people in Ottawa and Kingston use every day.

Our team specializes in heavy civil construction and residential and commercial site servicing, covering everything from storm sewer and watermain installation to site grading and road construction for communities across Eastern Ontario. We’re an industry leader in municipal and public infrastructure projects, including mass transit. We also provide a wide range of excavation services to private developers, and are a trusted supplier of construction aggregates and granular products.

But we build more than just infrastructure — we also build strong, lasting relationships with our partners. Through our client-centric approach to construction management and execution, we deliver maximum benefits and cost savings for any construction project.

To our valued Customers, Suppliers & Partners:

The COVID-19 pandemic is an unprecedented situation that we at Taggart Construction Limited are monitoring very closely. We remain active in our construction operations. We are currently taking heightened precautions as suggested by Ottawa Public Health, to protect the health and safety of our employees, suppliers, subcontractors, and support services that work on our jobsites. Our goal is to continue to provide the quality of service that our clients expect, while ensuring our employees are healthy, safe, and have continued job security during these trying times.

We have mandated the following extra precautions on all of our jobsites:

  1. We have put additional sanitization measures in place to ensure a clean work
environment – this includes the daily cleaning of all site trailers and washrooms, and the cleaning of heavy equipment before and after each use.
  2. We require that anyone who has recently returned from travel outside of Canada not be permitted on the job site and is expected to follow a self- quarantine for a period of 14 days.
  3. If someone is not feeling well, we are requesting that they self-isolate or work remotely. We require that anyone who is feeling unwell not attend the job site.
  4. We require that anyone showing signs of illness be sent home immediately and is asked to follow Ottawa Public Health Guidelines if they feel they may be infected.
  5. It is required that if an employee lives with or is providing care to anyone who has tested positive, or is suspected to have COVID-19, that the employee must self-isolate for a period of 14 days.
  6. We have mandated that all non-essential visitors are not permitted on the job site.
  7. We require that large group meetings not be permitted and will instead be conducted via virtual format or by telephone.
  8. All interviews, team meetings and training sessions have been moved to virtual formats.
  9. We have mandated that anyone on the job site maintain a distance of 1-2 metres from each other. Social distancing is being promoted at all times.
  10. We require that employees take their breaks outside of the site trailer to minimize large group interactions.

Our office is currently closed to the public, and we have asked that our office staff work remotely where possible. Office staff will continue to provide our customers, suppliers and field staff the support they require through modified workflow processes.

The situation is evolving rapidly, and we will be doing everything within our power to ensure the health and safety of our employees is maintained, while delivering the level of service our customers have come to expect. We would like to take the time to thank our dedicated employees who continue to work despite the uncertainty they are currently faced with. It has been a challenging work environment, and their efforts and continued dedication are greatly appreciated during this stressful time.

Sincerely,

Mike Taggart | President
