Shirley's Brook Realignment

Works undertaken included grading and realignment of Shirley's Brook, construction of a habitat area and low flow channel, dewatering, rock blasting and removal, channel excavation, turtle fence installation, removal and relocation of turtle nesting area and landscape works.

Project Highlights

• Species Preservation: Helping protect the turtle population of western Ottawa, including the endangered Blanding's turtle; 1900 m of turtle fencing installed
• Rock Removal: 150,000 tonnes removed from Site
• Earth Moving: 75,000 tonnes removed from Site
• Seeding: 15,265 m² planted
• Channel Excavation: 1,330 m
